About Us.
Founded in 1989, QUAFF is a group of adults dedicated to the enjoyment and promotion of homebrewing and evaluation of beer, mead and cider in the greater San Diego area. We share knowledge, methods, new brew pub and microbrewery discoveries, and good homebrew at monthly meetings and special events.
AFC. QUAFF sponsors the annual America’s Finest City Homebrew Competition, the largest homebrew competition in Southern California. AFC is a qualifying competition on MHP’s Circuit of America; it is BJCP-sanctioned and open to homebrewers from around the world.
Internal Competitions. QUAFF provides formal evaluation of our members’ entries during Club Only Competitions [COCs] for particular BJCP styles; the points earned during COCs are used to determine the QUAFF Homebrewer of the Year and Rising Star awards.
BJCP. QUAFF is very involved in the national Beer Judge Certification Program (BJCP). QUAFF is home to several Grand Master, Master, National and Certified BJCP judges. Part of QUAFF’s mission is to actively engage our members and the community in homebrew education – through study groups and proctoring of qualifying exams.
If you like beer, mead and/or cider, want to know beer styles better, brew your own beer, or are just curious as to what it takes to make your own beer, mead, and/or cider, QUAFF meetings are a great place to start!
We meet the 4th Tuesday of each month at Deft Brewing / Lost Cause Meadery. Dues are $30 per year (they can be paid by using the PayPal link on the front page, or by clicking here).
Guests are always Welcome.
